Awards

Applied has received special recognition from numerous local, state, and national organizations since its beginnings in 1986. Below are some examples of awards and recognition received by Applied.

2012

In 2012, Applied Engineering was selected by the North Dakota Young Professionals Network as a Top Place to Work and a Top Place to Intern. The awards recognize businesses that utilize unique and creative efforts to develop young professionals. In addition, Applied was selected by the Bismarck-Mandan Young Professionals Network as one of the Top Ten places to work in Bismarck-Mandan in 2012. For this award, local businesses are evaluated on several criteria related to young professionals, including innovation, benefits, inclusion, flexibility, and opportunities for advancement.

2011

In 2011, Applied Engineering was selected by the North Dakota Young Professionals Network as the Best Place to Work in North Dakota. Applied Engineering was selected from over 60 nominations as the top company in North Dakota for young professionals. In 2011, we also received the Top Place to Intern award from the North Dakota Young Professionals Network. The awards are a reflection of the creativity and innovation that businesses offer to attract, retain, and engage young professionals, and take into account the benefits, culture, and advancement opportunities that the business provides to young professionals.

2010

In 2010, Applied Engineering was selected by the North Dakota Young Professionals Network as a Top Place to Work.

2009

In 2009, Applied Engineering was selected by the North Dakota Young Professionals Network as a Top Place to Work. In addition, Applied was selected by the Bismarck-Mandan Young Professionals Network as one of the Top Ten places to work in Bismarck-Mandan.

2008

In 2008, Applied Engineering was selected by the Bismarck-Mandan Young Professionals Network as one of the Top Ten places to work in Bismarck-Mandan.

2004

DriveWorks North American Reseller Award

The award was presented by DriveWorks Marketing Director, Maria Sarkar to David Johanning -- Vice President Sales/Operations of Applied Engineering at SolidWorks World 2004 in Boston, Massachusetts.

2003

Excellence in Business Award

Applied Engineering received the Excellence in Business Award. This award is presented to the Gold Star recipient who has experience the most growth in number of employees and sales.

Gold Star Award

The Gold Star Award was presented to Applied Engineering, Inc. because it met the following criteria:

• Being in business in the Bismarck-Mandan area for at least three years
• Showing sales growth of a 10 percent minimum increase in any three out of the past five years
• Increasing employees by at least six full-time equivalent positions in any three out of the past five years

2000

Enterprise Technology Team Earns Award

Applied Engineering earned the Campus Representative of the Quarter award for the fourth quarter, 2000. Sun presented the award to former Applied CEO, Dwight Hinkel, at the annual Sun Educational Conference in San Diego, CA. The award is presented each quarter to the top campus representative in each region of the nation. Applied is in the Midwest Education District.
