MechWorks® DBInventor

DBInventor Overview

DBInventor for Inventor is the file management tool of thousand of cad users. The highest level of integration assures full usage of all inventor functionality and preservation of design intent. DBInventor supports all Inventor® complex documents dependencies. Designers continue their design process with the benefit of file control and team collaboration. As designs grow in size and complexity the knowledge of design information shared among the enterprise becomes an important factor in reducing time to market and elimination of unnecessary rework.

Features & Benefits

Project Centric Concept
DBInventor manages the relationships between your documents and the projects to whom they have been assigned. The logical relation permit the linking of the same document to various projects avoiding document duplication and file storage waste. Automatic rule based filtering assign specific document types to predefined projects providing feedback on document usage and easy project content control. The optimized Project Tree graphical user interface provides a hierarchical view and search capabilities on your projects and documents. The hierarchical structure updates as documents are added or removed from a project.

Flexible, Scalable and Customizable
DBInventor’s open architecture is the foundation to build on as your document management needs grow. Industry standard MDB, SqlServer and Oracle, are database platforms supported. Database schema design, BOM customization, Material Wizard, Category Maker, User Interface layout, MS Excel outputs, VBScript programming and extensive API are just few titles of the tools available for fine tuning and implementing DBInventor. The optional DBInventor WorkFlow and DBInventor Web Viewer modules are available as control and collaboration needs grow.

Secure Document Revisions
DBInventor protects your design files with standard OS file security offering the highest performance in checking/checkout operations. Activate, view and compare previous revision as needed, including BOM’s.

Collaborative Team Work
DBInventor provides control of engineering data and helps improve the performance of engineering activities. The DBInventor database can share product data among the designers at the LAN level, through a Geographically Distributed Site Environment or with the DBInventor Briefcase of offline data exchange. Notifications of document changes are sent automatically to designers working on referencing documents. DBInventor Web Viewer enables connecting to your DBInventor database with standard internet browsers, giving you access to you product data from anywhere in the world.

DBInventor Web Viewer
With the DBInventor Web Viewer you can publish your database and documents on the web and share them with your business partners. User access and functionality is controlled at the group level by the DBInventor User Rights Manager. The Web Viewer enables connecting to your Cad database with standard internet browsers, giving you access to your product data from anywhere in the world. It provides advanced search capabilities and project filtering of engineering data. The user interface shows the document record, composed of and where used information. On demand the display list of the model can be downloaded to the model’s viewer. DWG and DXF files are downloadable and viewable in the Web Viewer client.

DBInventor Workflow
DBInventor Workflow brings order to your engineering change requests and approval operations. It includes issues management, multi-document ECO-ECA and graphical workflow designer for process management.
