Case Study: Design Testing for Eureka Manufacturing

Challenge
Eureka Manufacturing makes and markets swimming pools and filtration systems for commercial applications. Eureka faced a challenge in that designing and testing the filtration units was an expensive and time-consuming process. There were no industry standard formulas or methods to determine the filtration media and tank specifications to meet the water flow and filtering requirements.

Solution
AE met with Eureka and determined that a laboratory test method was needed. AE designed and built a portable test unit to test dozens of variables during water flow and filtration. The data was collected through electronic data recorders and visual inspection. The test unit was used to successfully gather information about various flow rates, filtration media and the overall effectiveness of new systems. The information was used to assist new filter design and increase Eureka's knowledge and profitability.
