Finite Element Analysis
-
[ + ] Benefits of Finite Element Analysis:
- Reduce prototype costs
- Accelerate design cycles
- Decrease defect rates and product warranty costs
- Remove product costs from over-designed components and systems
- Improve product safety
- Gain insight into product performance and structural behavior otherwise unavailable.
-
[ + ] Finite Element Analysis:
Applied Engineering offers a wide range of engineering consulting services to help our customers effectively use state of the art finite element analysis (FEA) technology to understand and solve engineering problems. We are committed to cost effective use of FEA, whether we take total charge for solving a problem or to help our customers develop expertise to solve specific problems on their own.
Applied Engineering has a highly knowledgeable analysis group experienced in multiple facets of structural and computational dynamics including highly non-linear FEA analyses. Leveraging these technologies is critical in obtaining accurate answers in many applications. Applied Engineering has the tools and experience to take the understanding of your mechanical designs to a whole new level.
Applied Engineering establishes a close and open working relationship with our customers. Communication plays a very important role as the FE model is built and the analysis load cases are developed. Every effort is made to understand the underlying requirements of each customer so that the analysis results are more than just “pretty pictures”, and are useful from both a qualitative and a quantitative perspective. Once the analysis is completed, the analyst who conducted the work can explain the methodology and provide the customer with all of the data that is needed to independently reproduce the results.

[ + ] The Applied Difference:
Applied’s analysis team has extensive industry experience with the finite element (FE) method using the latest high-tech industry software. Let’s face it - anyone running FEA software can come up with colorful plots and fancy looking results. You want to know that the results are meaningful. Applied’s analysis engineers draw upon many years of FEA software expertise paired with physical testing experience to ensure that FEA results closely simulate real-world conditions. Applied’s analysis conclusions and design recommendations have helped our customers reduce product costs, avoid warranty costs, reduce product development costs, and avoid product safety issues. Applied’s analysis services are world-class because we:
- Employ a tried and true, industry-proven approach to analysis
- Have a team of experienced analysts with extensive industry experience
- Are efficient at what we do, allowing our customers a cost-effective solution
- Provide thorough communications before and during the project to ensure that customer expectations are met or exceeded
- Use the latest high-tech industry analysis tools
- Thoroughly document project details through an Applied Analysis Report
- Have the backing of a complete full-service engineering services department

[ + ] Case Studies:
Challenge
Amber Waves produces a variety of agriculture-related products, including
large bin storage hoppers. Amber Waves needed some high tech assistance
analyzing grain loading and its effects on a proposed design.
Solution
Applied worked closely with Amber Waves to gather the
necessary product specifications and crop data. Applied's experienced
engineering staff used advanced 3D design and finite element
analysis software to analyze the design and provide reassurance that the
new design would withstand the unique crop loading conditions. Applied's
analysis report provided Amber Waves with design validation before
building a single part.
